Miramar Beach, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2017) — Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) presents “Curious George: The Golden Meatball,” the first Professional Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) production

of its 6th season. ECTC’s TYA program showcases professional actors performing productions especially selected for young audience members.
Public performances of “Curious George: The Golden Meatball” are Friday, Oct. 19, Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. in ECTC’s performance space located upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin in Miramar Beach. Running time is 60 minutes, and the production is intended for ages 3 and up.
This is the first time ECTC has offered evening performances of its educational programs. All education program performances are presented on ECTC’s professional main stage.
Based on the books by Margret and H.A. Rey and the play, owned by Universal Stage Productions, in this show we join Curious George, the inquisitive, lovable monkeystar of books, movies and the award-winning PBS television show in a brand-new musical. All You Can Eat Meatball Day came just once a year. George had been waiting all month for that day, a day almost bigger than his birthday.
On Meatball Day, George helped his friend, Chef Pisghetti, cook some delicious meatballs and serve them to the hungry crowd. But this year, the crowd had vanished! Something was keeping people away... something pretty big. And that something was Phineas T. Lightspeed and his speedy Meatball soMatic machine. In despair, Chef Pisghetti vows to cook no more. Determined to help his friend, George goes on a mission to enter the Chef's meatballs in the world famous Golden Meatball Contest in Rome.
Tickets are $10 per person. Children 2 and under are free. Proceeds benefit ECTC and its Theatre Education programs. School field trip performances are offered Oct 19 and 26 in the morning. Compass Rose Academy, Maude Saunders Elementary, Van R Butler Elementary, and WISE Pre-K of Defuniak Springs have all booked field trips.
