Poems for People Who Hate Poetry!
The Live Bard

Is modern poetry too mauldin? Too obscure? Too self-centered? Well sit down and buckle up because these tales, will recall classic poems which explore human foibles or celebrate bawdy revelry.

For the past thirteen years, Peter Thomas has traveled the country, from the Gulf Coast to the Upper Great Lakes, appearing before audiences as “The Live Bard,” giving dramatic recitations of classic works of “narrative verse,”-- poems that tell a story.
For this upcoming performance, this “affable iconoclast” will recite, often in meter and rhyme, venerated stories that offer poignant insights into the human condition. He may good-naturedly pick on a modern poet or two, and will no doubt include some of his own curmudgeonly tales in the mix.

Show ratings are determined by the artists, not the Festival. Shows are required to list their warnings (Language, Adult Content, Nudity, Violence, Extreme Situations). Ratings are based on recommended minimum ages as follows: ALL AGES, 7+, 13+, 18+

Shows can be no longer than 90 minutes.  The Festival recommends shows run between 30 and 90 minutes.  There will be 30 minutes allotted for load in and 30 minutes for strike.

Each group will be given the choice to perform on a 16’x12’ stage with a 30 seat house or a 28’x20’ stage with a 90 seat house.

ECTC will provide a technical director and a production coordinator to assist with each show.  Lights and set will be general in nature, it may not be possible to accommodate special requests.  Performing groups will be responsible to provide their own stage manager, props, costumes, and specialized set pieces.  We recommend not bringing any large pieces of scenery.  ECTC will have acting cubes, small table and chairs, and a few pieces accessible.  Groups will need to coordinate with the technical director what pieces will be used.
