I love the story of A Wrinkle in Time. It inspires me because we face fears and challenges everyday and either overcome them, or run the other way. At some point in our lives, we can all relate to Meg: awkward, misunderstood, rejected. But we can also relate to her determination, stubbornness, and desire to overcome.

All you have to do is turn on the news for 5 minutes and see the challenges our children face in society today. As of father three girls my hope and prayer is that all three of them find the Meg in them to be determined, tenacious, overcomers.

This is one of the reasons I feel it is important for Emerald Coast Theatre Company to produce this type of theatre. Where else will our community, our families, and our children have an unplugged experience where they can be inspired? We get to see a living, breathing actress become a heroine who stares down evil and overcomes it. There is something irreplaceable about the art of theatre and how an audience becomes empowered along with the characters on stage.

Those connections, your connections with us, are powerful. It is what makes our community stronger and more personal. If you are interested in deepening that connection please reach out to us and join our tribe by volunteering, donating, and/or becoming a member. Our ECTC community would not be here if it wasn’t for so many generous people.

But for now...join us on this scifi fantasy where light overcomes the darkness.
