Hey Tribe: A couple weeks ago we promised to tell the story as to why we say “tribe.” Here goes: I love parent volunteers! I was talking to one of our mom volunteers as we were painting set pieces and she was sharing with us how her child had been a part of some different youth activities. She was always looking for that thing- her thing. When she found ECTC, her mom said it was like she “found her people.” “Yes! Her tribe!” I exclaimed. Mom was in full agreement that “tribe” is the best term to use.
Other parents have shared with us that their child has a hard time at middle school because of social anxiety or other issues, but cannot wait to come to rehearsal- to their tribe. Others have commented that their child has tried various extracurricular activities because their friends do it, but have really found their place at ECTC. So for us, tribe means community. These kids are finding a place for themselves at ECTC and we are so thankful they are. In a world full of unkindness and rejection, what a compliment to hear that these students are finding their tribe with ECTC. We at ECTC are actually looking for another leader of the tribe. Attached you will find a potential board member questionnaire and a description of some specific help we need. Please fill out the questionnaire and let us know if you are interested in serving on our board. We do have a working board so be prepared to roll up your sleeves and help! Thank YOU for being a part of our tribe and for your support of our little community. Sincerely, Anna Fisher, M.A. Associate Artistic Director Click here for the Board Member Questionnaire Click here for the Description
