Miramar Beach, Fla. (Sept. 27, 2017) — Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) presents the first Professional Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) production of its 5th anniversary season.
“The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” will be staged on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. in ECTC’s performance space located upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin in Miramar Beach.
“Literature coming to life on stage, what could be more exciting, inspiration, and wonderful as an educational field trip?” asks Emerald Coast Theatre Company Producing Artistic Director Nathanael Fisher. “We are so excited that our schools are seeing the opportunity to enhance our children's educational experiences by partnering with ECTC.”
Destin Elementary School kicks off the schedule when they bring 185 students along with 12 teachers and 50 chaperones on Friday, Oct. 13. Thanks to the partnership between ECTC and the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, students will be treated to a visit to the Foster Art Gallery, also located in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, prior to the performance.
Maude Saunders Elementary will attend on Oct. 20 and Bay Elementary will attend on Oct. 27.
“A combined visual and musical theater field trip is the perfect way for the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County and Emerald Coast Theatre Company to continue to partner. We are so thankful for the CAA's support and that the collaboration can grow to include a day of the arts,” Fisher says.
October 14, 21 and 28 are public performances. Tickets are $10 per person. Children age 3 and under are free. Proceeds benefit ECTC and its Theatre Education programs.
ECTC’s TYA program showcases professional actors performing productions especially selected for young audience members. “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” is designed to appeal to all ages. The cast includes: Danielle Walsh (Mrs. Cartero) Zach Phillips (Mr. Lambchop), Braya Faust (Arthur), Jennifer Fuller (Mrs. Lambchop) and Matthew Schnitker (Stanley).
The story of “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” centers on Stanley Lambchop your ordinary, everyday 10-year-old until the bulletin board on the wall above his bed comes loose and falls right on top of him. Stanley’s journey takes him across the globe, to many interesting locales, filled with lots of colorful characters. The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley is filled with infectious songs and non-stop adventure, making this a perfect show to introduce young audiences to the magic of live theatre.
ECTC’s TYA program for 2017-2018 continues with two additional productions. “A Mark Twain Storybook” (intended for ages 6 and up) will be performed Fridays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. Jan. 26 through Feb. 3. “Aesop's Fables” (appropriate for all ages) will be staged Fridays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. from April 6 to 14.
ECTC is a non-profit professional theater company founded by Nathanael Fisher, MFA, and his wife, Anna, in 2012 with a mission to enrich and entertain the Emerald Coast community through professional and educational theater.
“To sustain ECTC, to operate on the day to day, requires financial and in-kind support from individuals and businesses,” says Fisher. “Many are not aware that theater ticket sales and education program tuition does not begin to cover our full operating expenses. This makes the support we receive from local businesses all the more important.”
ECTC’s 5th anniversary season is made possible by generous support from the following title sponsors: Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, Isidro Dunbar Modern Interiors and Howard Hospitality. ECTC’s Theatre for Young Audiences 2017-2018 program is made possible with support from St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc. the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, and Silver Sands Premium Outlets.
