EMERALD COAST THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES CALL FOR ENTRIES

FOR NORTHWEST FLORIDA THEATRE FESTIVAL

The inaugural Northwest Theatre Festival will be staged May 12-21

at 560 Grand Boulevard, Upstairs, in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin

Miramar Beach, Florida (February 20, 2017) — Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) announces an open call for entries to its first-ever hosting of Northwest Florida Theatre Festival, May 12-21, 2017.

The call for entries is open to anyone interested in staging plays, performance art, musical numbers, dance and/or published or unpublished original work. Submitted pieces must not no longer than 60 minutes.

Audience ratings will be self-determined by the artists, not the Festival. Shows are required to list their warnings (Language, Adult Content, Nudity, Violence, Extreme Situations). Ratings are based on recommended minimum ages as follows: All Ages, 7+, 13+, 18+.

The application fee is $25 and includes a Festival Button (value $5) for admittance for up to five participants. There is no application fee for official 501c3 organizations or student organizations (with instructor and letter of support). Each performing group accepted will receive 10 complimentary tickets per performance to their show.

The first six groups to submit a complete application and pay the registration fee are guaranteed two performance slots (if desired). After the application deadline and all applications are considered, groups will be notified if a second performance time slot is available.

ECTC will provide a technical director and a production coordinator to assist with each piece. Lights and set will be general in nature; special needs will be considered, but are not guaranteed. Performing groups will be responsible for providing their own stage manager, props, costumes and specialized set pieces. ECTC will have acting cubes, small table and chairs and a few other pieces for use.

Deadline for entry applications is April 10, 2017. Technical rehearsal dates are May 8 through 11 and the Festival will run May 12-21.

Show times will be Friday 7 p.m., 9 p.m., 11 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. More show times will be added as needed.

The Festival will be staged at Emerald Coast Theatre Company’s space located at 560 Grand Boulevard, Upstairs, in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin in Miramar Beach, Fla. Other local venues may be added should as needed.

A $5 Festival Button is required for participants to gain entry to all Festival sessions. Youth performers, children (12 and under) are free.

Festival tickets for adults are $15; children are $10. All access passes will be available for purchase for $100. Fifty percent of the ticket price will go to the performing organization.

The Northwest Florida Theatre Festival is designed as an inclusive and creative celebration of a community of artists. The Festival will be produced in concert with the Cultural Arts Alliance’s Art Week South Walton.

ABOUT EMERALD COAST THEATRE COMPANY
