Love is…
The continuation of those two words have been defined by philosophers, ministers, poets, cynics, and the rest of us...the common man or woman. I never truly knew what romantic love was until I met my wife. Anna (Ogle at the time) was the curly haired brunette that captured my heart and and threw my type A personality for a loop -she still does.
This October we celebrated 12 years of marriage. Not as long as some marriages, but long enough to find our common ground in honest theatre, a disinterest in sports, and dark chocolate.
Relationships are simple and complicated, full of highs and lows. That is what’s beautiful about this sweet play called “Almost, Maine.” It is nine stories told honestly and sweetly, happening at the same chronological time, in different places in the same town. When I read this script I reminisced about the different places in time that Anna and I have been in love: the nervous handholding in the movies, the warm comfort of just being near each other, our first fight, our first real fight, the apologies, the uncontrollable belly laughs together, and so many more.
The journey of love does take us to different places, both physically and emotionally. Thank you for joining us on this journey to “Almost, Maine.” The view is beautiful, because it is a view into the exciting and bumpy road of love.
