2015/2016 Season Auditions

Emerald Coast Theatre Company, a not-for-profit professional theater company based in Miramar Beach, is holding auditions for its upcoming 2015/2016 professional season and Educational Theatre Tour.

All positions are paid. Rehearsal locations will be determined after casting. Auditions will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

Tuesday August 18th at Rise Dance Center, 4495 Commons Dr W, Destin

Wednesday August 19th at Gulf Coast State College Theatre Lab, 5230 W Highway 98, Panama City

Thursday August 20th at Gulf Coast State College Theatre Lab

Callbacks (if needed) will be scheduled at a later date.

The following actors/characters are needed:

Educational Theatre Tour of an Adaptation of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (must be available for evening/weekend rehearsals from Aug 22 through Sept 3 and performances on Fridays at Walton County Schools in Sept, Oct, and Nov)

BUFFO: An oaf-ish clown

Swing Actor/Asst. Stage Manager

Storytime Theatre (flexible rehearsals prior to events)

2 or three Improv based actors that can portray multiple characters and bring a story to life

Eleemosynary (rehearsals Sept 21 through Oct 15, performances Oct 16-18 and 23-25). A gripping drama by playwright Lee Blessing probes into the delicate relationships of three generations of women: an eccentric grandmother, her brilliant daughter, and her precocious spelling prodigy granddaughter. In his examination of these three family members, Blessing deftly illustrates the tensions and dynamics that can stress a family to its breaking point.

Dorothea: actress that looks 50-60’s, eccentric

Artie: actress that looks 30-40’s, brilliant, determined

Echo: actress that looks late teens - 20’s, precocious

A Dickens Christmas (rehearsals Nov 9 through Dec 10, possible performances Dec 5, 11-13, 18-20). An adaptation of Charles Dickens’ famous story “A Christmas Carol” using only three actors. Actors will play multiple roles as they bring to life the tale of Scrooge and his transformational night with the three ghosts. Cockney and Standard British (RP) dialects will be used.

Male or Female: 30s to 50s looking

Male or Female: 20s to 30s looking

Almost, Maine (rehearsals Jan 11 through Feb 4, performances Feb 5,6,12-14, 19, 20) One cold, clear Friday night in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. And life for the people of Almost, Maine will never be the same.

2-3 women, 2-3 men 20’s to 40’s

Auditioners interested in auditioning for Midsummer or Dickens should prepare a one minute comedic Shakespeare monologue, if auditioning for Eleemosynary or Almost, Maine a one minute contemporary comedic or dramatic monologue is acceptable. Auditioners should bring a headshot and resume and may perform up to two monologues. Auditioners may be asked to read from scripts or improv.
