Emerald Coast Theatre Company, a not-for-profit professional theater company based in Miramar Beach, is holding auditions for its upcoming spring production of “Art,” directed by ECTC’s producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher.
Auditions will be held from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Destin Community Center, 101 Stahlman Ave. in Destin. Callbacks (if needed) will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29.
Production dates will be Friday through Sunday, March 6-8 and March 13-15 in Destin. Rehearsals will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Feb. 16 through March 5, and over some weekends as needed.
Auditioning actors should be prepared to present a comedic monologue and read from a provided script.
This is a non-Actors’ Equity Association production with pay.
For the cast of “Art” ECTC is seeking three male actors age 30 to 50:
Serge, a wealthy dermatologist with airs to cultural supremacy
Yvan, a sort of man-child who agrees with everyone and does not have an opinion of his own
Marc, an aeronautical engineer, the kind of person who loves to tell people how to run their lives
High art meets high comedy in the international hit play “Art” written by Yasmina Reza with English translation by Christopher Hampton. “Art” is the story of three friends and the painting that threatens to tear their relationship apart. Through all their squabbling, Serge, Marc, and Yvan discover that like the painting, their friendship is not what it seems.
“This is a wonderfully challenging project for all three roles … a true ensemble piece,” said producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher.
