PRODUCING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR TAPPED to serve on action planning team for

florida division of cultural affairs

Nathanael Fisher invited to help Department of State with strategies to nurture Florida artists

Miramar Beach, Fla. (Jan. 15, 2014) — Nathanael Fisher, co-founder and producing artistic director of Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC), was recently selected by the State Department of Florida to serve on an action planning committee for Florida’s Division of Cultural Affairs.

The state is forming several action-oriented task forces. Fisher is invited to serve with six to eight additional art professionals from across the state on an action planning committee focused on Artists in Florida. According to art consultant Morgan Lewis, the committee will look at Florida artists with the aim of “elevating their role as leaders and highlighting the impact of their work.”

The task force will convene over conference calls in January and February. This is part of the Division of Cultural Affairs first phase to launch a five-year strategic plan.

“I am honored to have been chosen to serve on a committee focused on Florida artists,” said Nathanael Fisher, producing artistic director for ECTC. “Obviously as an actor/director establishing a theater company here in Northwest Florida, I am a firm believer that artists are vital to the quality of life experience for every community.”

This is Fisher’s second interaction with the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs. In June 2014 he was one of a select group of professional artists to participate in a hands-on workshop presented by the leaders of the Creative Capital Foundation. It was this previous experience and the Division’s awareness of Fisher’s successful efforts with the Emerald Coast Theatre Company that earned him a “seat at the table.” Lewis said she invited Fisher because of his “incredibly valuable perspective.”

Fisher formed ECTC in 2012 as a 501(c)(3) with a mission to enrich and entertain the Emerald Coast community through professional and educational theater.
