Lip Sync Battles are all the rage these days, and now Emerald Coasters can challenge their friends, coworkers, and business competitors to a battle! The Emerald Coast Theatre Company is hosting the second annual Emerald Coast Lip Sync Battle at 560 Grand Boulevard, Upstairs on November 10, offering the perfect chance for participants to finally perform live the songs they’ve been practicing in front of their bathroom mirrors for years. Competitors even have the chance to challenge others via social media, and a panel of local judges will pick the best of the best. The night will be complete with a cash bar, and those performers who bring the biggest crew will rack up audience participation points by voting with dollars. Can’t sing? No problem! It’s just lip sync! And those who are challenged and don’t accept are required to donate to ECTC’s educational and theatrical programming fund. Just remember; getting up onstage is half the battle! It’s going to be a night you won’t soon forget, and the perfect opportunity to take center stage for a night of music, dance, and fun, right here on the Emerald Coast.

 

 

 Performers can pay their dues on the ECTC website, and include their song choice, etc.  The song choice rules are below.

ECTC Lip Sync Battle 2017

The Rules

 

Entrants will select one song from any genre of their choosing for the show, and one song to be performed in the second round if chosen as a finalist.  A total of two songs should be prepared.

 

Songs may be performed as solo, duet or trio or quartet or a group number. Groups of more than eight will not be allowed.

 

Song choice must not exceed two and a half minutes in length.

 

Song choice must be appropriate for most audiences, and any songs containing explicit lyrics must be delivered in an edited format.

 

Songs will not be announced prior to the performances, allowing for the element of surprise for both the audience members and the performers’ competition.  Please do not share your song choice!

 

Competitors may select their competition for battle, challenging others to a battle in a public social media post using the below template:

Costumes and props are allowed, provided they do not offend audience members or require special handling by ECTC  staff.

 

Song must be delivered in MP3 format no later than October 17 at 12 PM.  Email the files to cory @emeraldcoasttheatre.org Songs already edited to the 2 1/2 minute time frame is preferred or include the seconds you want to perform and we will edit. 

 

Judging will be conducted by a panel of judges and will be based on the following criteria:

Originality and creativity

Audience interaction and support

Costume choice and appearance

Full-out dedication to performance

 

Prizes will awarded in the following categories:

• Best Dance Moves

• People's Choice Award

• Overall Lip Sync Battle Winner 2017

 

Performer Registration Deadline: October 17th, 2017 at 12 PM.

Registration fee must be paid to ECTC before song choice can be submitted.
